The England Hockey Premier Division for Men is the highest level of men's club field hockey in England, bringing together the country's 12 leading teams to compete for the national championship. Organised by England Hockey, the competition features some of the finest domestic and international hockey players, representing established clubs such as Surbiton, Wimbledon, Old Georgians, Holcombe and Hampstead & Westminster. The 2026/27 season also welcomes newly promoted Bowdon and the University of Exeter. The Premier Division showcases fast-paced, highly competitive hockey, with clubs battling for domestic honours and qualification for European competition.
The season begins with Phase 1, in which all 12 teams play each other once, producing 66 fixtures across 11 rounds. The league then divides into a Top Six and Lower Six for Phase 2, with each team playing five additional matches. The competition subsequently progresses to Phase 3, featuring championship and relegation play-offs, before culminating in a Finals Weekend to determine the Premier Division champions. With promotion and relegation linking the Premier Division to Division One North and South, the competition offers excitement throughout the season, from the opening fixtures to the decisive championship matches.
