Welcome to Richmond Bridge Club - England's largest affiliated club
WELCOME TO RICHMOND BRIDGE CLUB
WELCOME TO RICHMOND BRIDGE CLUB

Welcome to Richmond Bridge Club, the most popular and successful EBU affiliated club in the country!  A friendly and progressive club, we are housed in the old Bowling Club Pavilion in Cambridge Park, nestled between Richmond & Twickenham.  Our Clubhouse has multiple playing rooms, teaching facilities and a fully licensed bar.

We offer a range of duplicate bridge sessions every day of the week for players of all abilities - our full schedule of regular events may be found here.

Our Academy offers lessons for new players, beginners and improvers, and seminars for more experienced players. For more detail about the different sessions for novices and improvers, please click here.

The club is proud to be hosting Surrey County Bridge Association's AGM on Sunday July 6th which will take place in the "cake" interval for the normal Sunday duplicate (NB consequently there will be an earlier start time @ 2pm)

'WELL, I DO DECLARE' - Thursday 22nd May

This Thursday, Tim Chanter will continue reviewing three boards from Declarer's perspective via Zoom and screenshare.  Please click here in advance to review the quiz for the session.

If you wish to attend, simply click this Zoom link from 10.20 for a 10.30 kick off (no pre booking is required).  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86037429431

If you cannot make it, but wish to be copied in on the recording and the commentaries then please let Tim know to add you to the distribution list.

The session will take about 1 hour and costs £5.  There will be a follow up of answers to the quiz.

On Saturday 7th June at 18.00,

we will also be organising our next supper and bridge event

as part of the celebrations of Richmond's twinning with Konstanz and Fontainebleu

We expect to be joined by members of Twickenham Chess Club

Catering for 7th June will be provided by two restaurants

(Thai Upon Thames & Tangawizi)

to offer the best choice

We will have (a) a duplicate for our more experienced members, and

(b) a separate supervised session for students.

The price (incl bridge) is £25 per player for both members and visitors.

Booking now open - Please click HERE to book a place and select a menu option

Bookings are now open for our very popular Cafe Bridge on Tuesday, June 24.

Arrive from 10.45 am at your initial venue (ie no central reservation point). There will be 3 rounds before lunch and another 3 after.

This is a fund raising event for a local Charity INS (Integrated Neurological Services)

which has been operating for 25 years, principally in Twickenham and Hounslow.

INS provides rehabilitation and support for those with long term neurological conditions (incl strokes, Parkinsons & MS).

INS volunteers will be joining us on the day organising a raffle. Lew Gray, one of the club's long standing members, is a Trustee of INS.

Janet Leffler is leading our cafe bridge team this year supported by Zita Crewe, Sally Durant, Jonathan Hird & Caroline Owens.

They have provisionally agreed some of the restaurants taking part including

The Old Ship, The Britannia, Cote, Buenos Aires, Pizza Express, Angel & Crown, Rosa's Thai, Adesso, Noci & Watermans

On the day we will be directed as always by the wonderful Victor Lesk and his team with scores entered electronically by players on their smartphones

using the BriAn app-based scoring system.

This allows us to announce a result very soon after the last board is played. If you have not come across BriAn before, you can find out more here.

The cost per person is £40.00 (for bridge and food - drinks are excluded).

Bookings will be taken via credit/debit card or BACS transfer through the BriAnBridge website (i.e. not through your club member account).

Detailed information about the event, your starting position and route will be sent out by email on June 23rd.

Monthly Wednesday Evening Teams

Wednesday evening @ 19.00, June 11th, NB Earlier Start Time the club will organise its next monthly teams event.

These are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (ie the following one will be July 9th).

A team is made up of 4 players playing together as 2 pairs. There are some differences to the scoring method, and therefore the best tactics - but if you are unfamiliar with the format don't worry, just play your usual game !

There is no obligation to play every month. Normal table money of £7 will apply for members, £10 for visitors.

The details of how things are organised on the night will depend on the number of teams taking part.

There is free street parking (so do not use the bowls club car park) and the bar will be open throughout.

I want to encourage less experienced players to have a go

so don't just ignore this because you're not sure what's involved !

For the moment my focus is on gathering names and  helping arrange everyone into teams of four
